About the Role
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Lead Teachers for our Early Head Start and Head Start programs. These classrooms serve children ages infant through preschool (0–5 years old), with a focus on high-quality, outcome-driven early childhood education.

As a Lead Teacher, you will plan, implement, and oversee classroom activities, support family engagement, and ensure each child’s developmental, social, and emotional needs are met.
Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute developmentally appropriate programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers

  • Supervise and support classroom staff, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment

  • Maintain accurate records and developmental logs for each child

  • Collaborate with families to reinforce the concept that parents are their child’s first teacher

  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and parent engagement activities

  • Ensure compliance with program standards and best practices

  • Uphold professional and ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality at all times
Qualifications

  • Required: CDA, Associate’s, or 60+ college credits in Early Childhood Education (with classroom experience)

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education (Master’s a plus)

  • Minimum 1 year of classroom experience in an Early Childhood setting

  • Knowledge of ITERS-3 and Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework preferred

  • Strong communication, organization, and family engagement skills
Position Details

  • Openings: 3

  • Location: New York, NY

  • Hours: Full-time (35–40 hrs/week)

  • Schedule: School year calendar, with potential for summer programming

  • Caseload: Standard classroom ratios (approx. 8–15 children depending on age group)

  • Format: Onsite only (no virtual/hybrid)

Prior to joining Phaxis predecessor firm Park Hudson in 2021, Drew spent three years at engineering technology and talent solutions firm, Collabera, as Director of Sales in North Carolina. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly eight years at Insight Global, most recently as Sales Manager of the Columbus, OH office.

He holds a degree from Central Michigan University in Sales & Marketing.
